Artist: Elvis Presley Recorded: July 1954 - January 1956 Released: March 13, 1956 Studio: RCA Studio B (Nashville), RCA (New York), Sun Studio (Memphis) Length: 28:03 Label: RCA Victor Rating: 9/10 (excellent) Elvis Presley’s eponymous debut album was released on March 13, 1956, following a series of popular Elvis recordings released in the two previous years. The album was met with huge commercial and critical success, peaking at #1 on the charts in both the United States and the United Kingdom. Interestingly, the album also peaked at #20 in Norway. The album opens with possibly the most well-known and iconic song Elvis has ever recorded, “Blue Suede Shoes”. Already, the album is off to a great start, but it gets even better with songs such as “I’m Counting on You”, “I Love You Because”, and “Trying to Get to You”. Overall, this is a very good album. I’d highly recommend listening to it if you haven’t done so already.
